During the " Taipei City Firefighting Camp – Disaster Preparedness Adventure," children will become members of a time-traveling city rescue team. They will experience various disaster scenarios such as smoke-filled fire, shaking earthquake simulation, and scenarios combining the TOMICA world with the disaster prevention park. They will learn crucial skills, including fire reporting and self-rescue, earthquake response, and the operation of disaster prevention parks. The camp will also teach the use of technology tools like the "Video 119 App," " First On Scene App," " Taipei City Disaster Prevention App," and the " "Disaster Preparedness Taipei" e-book. Additionally, fun firefighting games and competitions will be organized to help children make new friends and develop team spirit and disaster response cooperation.
In the " Taipei City Firefighter Camp - Unboxing Firefighter’s Work: Let’s Go," students will have the opportunity to experience being a firefighter. They will learn how to wear personal protective equipment such as firefighting suits, hats, and boots to carry out tasks. They will gain insight into the operation of fire trucks and have hands-on experience with various rescue equipment. Additionally, they will participate in interactive experiences such as aiming and spraying water as a real firefighter, and saving lives through the maze. They will also learn fire extinguishing techniques, how to avoid smoke hazards, and how to yield to emergency vehicles. Upon completion, participants will receive an 8-hour service learning certificate, achieving both fun and educational goals.
The Taipei City Fire Department states that the "Taipei City Firefighting Camp – Disaster Preparedness Adventure" is open to students in grades 1 to 4 of elementary schools in Taipei City, while the "Firefighter Camp – Unboxing Firefighter’s Work: Let’s Go" is open to junior high and high school students in Taipei City. The eligibility is based on the 112 academic year. If a student is not a Taipei resident or does not attend a Taipei school, at least one parent or guardian must be Taipei resident. Additionally, the Fire Department invites socially vulnerable groups such as children's homes and youth welfare institutions to register as groups, with priority given to ensure spots for these groups.
Due to the high demand for these activities each year, parents are reminded to register early! Ensure your child has a fulfilling and meaningful summer. In case of any event cancellation due to natural disasters, such as typhoons, floods, epidemics, etc., the participants will be informed by phone in advance.
