Routinely
Familiarize yourself with fire escape route.
Ensure there are at least two exits.
Check for the identify location of fire
1. Fire inside the room
Leave room immediately and shut the behind you.
(Note: closing the door can delay the intensity of the fire)
Escape to safety.
2. Fire outside the room
Check the door handle (Touch with the back of your hand to check temperature)
A. Temperature normal, no smoke observed
Escape!
Leave room immediately and shut the behind you.
(Note: closing the door can delay the intensity of the fire)
B. Door handle hot or smoke observed outside the door
Stay put!
Shut the door, use towels or sheets to block any gaps
Wait for assistance, dial 1-1-9
Escape to safety.
